We are very pleased to offer the premiere of the zeroed in dancefloor jazz-funk of ‘You Lost’ by London-based outfit Caytra. The follow up single to ‘The O.G’, which got shouts from Music Is My Sanctuary and Apple Music’s ‘Jazz Scene: UK’, ‘You Lost’ is a raw, stripped down four to the floor workout tune that takes inspiration from the dancefloor-ready jazz of Kamaal Williams and Thrust-era Herbie Hancock, with more than a hint of the Brit-Funk sound that is seeing a welcome comeback recently (check out acts like STR4TA on Brownswood Recordings). The trio keep it rock solid throughout, with a simple but addictive disco-ish bassline, restrained guitar chords, arpeggiated synths and super-tight drums that release into an impressive drum solo from James Gullis. Pure dancefloor heat for the summer season and beyond!
