Cosmic producers and acclaimed record collectors Psychemagik have proved that they know how to get their hands dirty and dig out the obscure and unusual to pull an interesting compilation together. One half of the Psychemagik duo, Skyrager (aka Danny McLewin) has done the business again on a brand new comp for Mr Bongo titled ‘Coconut Dreams’. An eclectic, widescreen soundtrack to a mythical utopia where everything is just groovy, the tracklist wanders from tripped out ambience and stark electro-reggae to cosmic folk-soul like this rare early ‘70s beauty from Joseph (Millar).

Near enough impossible to find an original copy of the 7 inch these days, 'Three O'Clock In The Morning' is a transcendent slice of jazz-infused folk-soul that burns with energy and good vibes. With an intro of acoustic guitar and congas that explodes into a funky, brass-heavy whirlwind, the (too short) song is reminiscent of Terry Callier at full throttle, Joseph’s extraordinary vocals soaring like a purer-toned version of Tim Buckley at his horniest (as in brass instrument influenced). What a tune!
