Music that speaks to...James Waring (The Invisible Orchestra)

Truth & Lies are good friends and occasional collaborators with Nottingham’s homegrown musical pirates The Invisible Orchestra - a supercharged 24 piece funk (and more) orchestra that have been smashing it live around the country since the release of their excellent debut album ‘Champagne Taste Lemonade Money’. BBC6’s funk-Scouser Craig Charles has been a serious supporter including them in several of his live shows including his 2016 New Year’s Eve bash.

We asked bandleader James Waring about what music has influenced his writing and the sound of the band but he swerved that question and gave us this instead...take it away James...

"Here are 10 songs I've been listening to lately and keep coming back to over time... not necessarily heavy influences or inspirations and during heavy bouts of recording and songwriting, I tend to watch films and documentaries to give my ears and brain a rest! But here goes…

The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You 1959. WHY RECORDS CAN SOUND BETTER THAN A CD VERSION. http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question487.htm Recorded from the later released Rhino Collectible 45 rpm record. The Flamingos: Nate Nelson, lead w/ (Ezekiel) Zeke Carey, Tommy Hunt, Terry Johnson & Paul Wilson. .

From his 1971 record, "Getting Ready," which was largely written and produced by Leon Russell and features Duck Dunn on bass. Russell wrote "Going Down," as part of an attempt to introduce Freddie to more of a "rock audience" through this record.

Beats & Culture Channel http://youtube.com/k0rtiz0NN Transglobal Underground (sometimes written as Trans-Global Underground or simply as TGU) is a London-based music collective who specialise in a fusion of western, oriental and African music styles (sometimes labelled as "world fusion" or "ethno-techno").
Pet Sounds Track 4 (Stereo Remasters) Lyrics: I can hear so much in your sighs And I can see so much in your eyes There are words we both could say But don't talk, put your head on my shoulder Come close, close your eyes and be still Don't talk,

Just even looking at that list, it seems like I could add a thousand more but as I said, it's just the mood I'm in at the moment when I'm at home just listening to tunes in general. The time I probably listen to the most music is when I'm out and about and at friends so that could include anything from Jungle, Jazz, Afrobeat, Soul, Exotica, Dub, Punk, Classical and beyond... Hard question!

Much prefer talking bollocks about the band haha!" (see below for said band)
