DJ Amir’s dream project of inviting Berlin legends Jazzanova to reimagine choice tracks from Strata Records’ delicious back catalogue rides on. The abstract soul jazz original from Sam Sanders’ previously unreleased album ‘Mirror Mirror’ gets the full band treatment from Jazzanova here, and as can be expected, they’ve done the sweetest job. The deep melancholy of the original has been transposed into a slick soul jam (à la Roy Ayers) with killer horns and another smooth vocal turn from Sean Haefeli whose honeyed-tones suit these songs so well.
