Led by the seductively rich voice of Hospital Records mainstay Elsa Esmeralda, ‘Running Colours’ is an intricately performed astral jazz meets broken beat tune with strong songwriting chops and outrageously virtuosic playing by the entire band. This is definitely a London thing, a dollop of blue cool is paired with squiggly keyboard and guitar fireworks and a fantastic shapeshifting jazz-funk rhythm section that demands repetitive listens.
