BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness)

October 5, 2018

Without a doubt my favourite new band, Soweto’s BCUC are a force of nature. Nature as fierce as a typhoon but as in balance with its surroundings as the most stunning butterfly. Using only a bass guitar, a selection of drums and the voices of most of the members, their sound is where the ancient and future intersect.

‘We draw inspiration from Indigenous music that is not exposed in the mainstream. We sing ritual songs, shebeen songs and church songs infused with raps and a rock and roll attitude. We always aim for a timeless, honest and traditional/ ritualistic sound. The music should always resonate with the spirituality, the history and the future of the people.’

Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness perform their original song "Yinde indlela' live at Markon Recording Studio. This performance was captured live with no overdubs. The song will be released by Nyami Nyami records (France) on the 3rd November 2016 on vinyl, digital and cd format.

We are insanely hyped to be DJing for them at the spanking new Metronome venue in Nottingham on October 24th!
